Things Are Winding Down

I got an email from the VP who hired me 9 years ago today. The subject line was "The End of an Era". Very funny. It was nice to hear from her--I always enjoyed working with her.

Things are starting to wind down for me up here. Almost all of my work has been transitioned over to my replacement, so it's just clean-up and advisory type stuff at this point. Working on a couple of pending things to make sure they get done.

Tomorrow night Brian Houser is playing at Adairs Saloon. I'll be there, because he's the best, and because I haven't seen him play in ages. (Normally I play shuffleboard at the Kings X on Thursday nights, but this week I'm making an exception.)

I've decided that Maddox's site is the funniest website I've ever read.

Saying Good-bye's and Hello's

I've worked for Hotels.com now for over 9 years, which is more than half my adult life, but I've decided to make a change and take a job at the Dallas Observer in the classified ad sales department. I'll be making the change on 4/6 of this year. It's an interesting change, because I'm making a move from a management role to a sales role, but I feel like it's a good change for me for any number of reasons. The stress of management may or may not be what I'm actually cut out for in life. Sales has never been particularly stressful for me, so I'm thinking that this has been a good decision for me and I'm pretty happy about it.

My new office is going to be downtown in the Observer building, which is cool since it's walking distance from one of my favorite bars and eating places, Adairs Saloon. Definitely going to be down the next Thursday night for the Brian Houser show.

So anyway--goodbye Hotels.com. It's been fun, and I'm leaving with a lot of great memories.

And hello Dallas Observer. I'm looking forward to my new opportunities with you.
